Parkside Power!
PBIS, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, is designed to prevent negative behavior by laying out expectations for every area of the classroom so that students know how to behave to benefit every student's learning. By teaching students values instead of direct behaviors, they are able to self-monitor their behavior. We learn the expectations by doing the following over the course of the entire year.
Students are held to high standards because it is believed that they can meet these standards. Together, students will work to help all students follow expectations by reminding each other of the expectations if needed.
The above expectations are for our classroom alone. The school also has a set of expectations similar to the ones above for areas all over the building.
- The teachers and students review the expectations.
- The teacher will model the expectations.
- Students and the teacher model the expectations for others.
- Students practice procedures while meeting expectations.
